Need help using the Water Requirement Calculator?

Start with the issue you are trying to solve and include enough non-sensitive detail for the problem to be reproduced. Do not send API keys, passwords, private credentials, payment information, or other secrets.

QUICK HELP

1. CALCULATION QUESTION

If a result does not look right, open View Calculation Details first. Include:

- The result you expected to review

- The livestock group inputs involved

- The planning condition inputs involved

- Trough, storage, source GPM, and recovery settings involved

- The formula or warning you are asking about

2. PROJECT FILE QUESTION

For .ra project problems, include:

- Whether you are saving or opening a project

- The visible error message

- The Water Requirement Calculator version if shown

- The browser/device you are using

Do not edit a .ra file unless you understand the RanchAssist project-file format. If a file is corrupt or from another RanchAssist tool, the Water Requirement Calculator may reject it for safety.

3. EXPORT OR PRINT QUESTION

For CSV, PDF/print, Copy Summary, or email-sharing issues, include:

- Which output you selected

- What happened

- The browser/device

- Any visible error message

4. EMAIL-SHARING QUESTION

Email sharing is available in the Google Apps Script deployment and uses Apps Script MailApp. If email sharing is unavailable, the deployment may need administrator configuration, permission, or quota review. End users should not be asked to provide developer API keys or SMTP credentials.

5. SESSION / SAVING QUESTION

The Water Requirement Calculator uses a session-first model. Active work may use sessionStorage for current-session recovery. For long-term continuation, save a RanchAssist .ra project file before leaving. Clearing the session does not delete .ra files already saved to your device.

BEFORE REPORTING A PROBLEM

- Refresh only after saving a .ra project file if the current work is important.

- Confirm numeric fields contain valid, non-negative values where required.

- Confirm water-point allocations total 100% when Advanced water-point mode is enabled.

- Check View Calculation Details to verify the formula inputs.

- Try the current version in a modern browser.

- Record the exact error or warning text.

WHAT SUPPORT CANNOT DO

RanchAssist support cannot certify that a livestock water plan is adequate for a specific ranch, animal-welfare standard, well, pump, plumbing system, storage structure, or engineering requirement. The calculator provides planning estimates from the assumptions entered by the user.

When site-specific, animal-health, water-quality, engineering, regulatory, or safety decisions are involved, consult an appropriately qualified local professional.
